Due to the renovations to the college building, we will not meet at the church for Bible Study. Rather, we will be hanging out in our community at Starbucks on Hwy 41 in Kennesaw, near Wal-Mart. The address is:

On Our Way Home

As we begin our journey home, the team wants to say “THANK YOU” for your prayers and support. We have seen the Father move in so many ways and sad that we have to leave these wonderful people. We ask you to join us in praying for the Thai people and those who have heard and that they would come to know Him.

We are in the last stages of packing now and will head to the airport soon for our 1st of 3 flights. Please pray for our safety as we travel back home. We look forward to seeing our families and church family. Please make plans to come hear our mission report on Sunday, August 21 @ 6pm. See you all soon!!!

As we approach the end of our journey here, a local Thai came to faith this morning. A group of ladies from our large team ministered to her this morning. After sharing, she said that she heard before from other believers, but chose to follow Him this morning! We praise the Father and encouraged that He is faithful to use us. The Great Commission found in Matthew 28:19-20 should challenge us all to be faithful to share because some plant, some water, some till, and some reap. No matter what the case, we need to be faithful to share because we do not know how theFather might use us. Thanks for your prayers and ask that you keep praying for our team in the last days of our stay here. Praise to the Father!!!!

Broken for the City

About 1:30pm yesterday, over 300 monks entered into a local temple (called a “wat”). When the head monk called them to chant, and an overwhelming feeling came over the place. As we listened, there was such and emptiness to was was being chanted. This continued for over an hour as we watched and reminded of Isaiah 44: 9-11:
“Those who fashion a graven image are all of them futile, and their precious
things are of no profit; even their own witnesses fail to see or know, so that they
will be put to shame. Who has fashioned a god or cast an idol to no profit?
Behold, all his companions will be put to shame, for the craftsmen themselves are
mere men. Let them all assemble themselves, let them stand up, let them tremble,
let them together be put to shame.”

Everywhere we see lostness and compelled to show the love of God to them. God is working in our lives and those we talk to. As we have 2 full days of ministry left, please pray for the hearts of those who have heard the good news. Please pray for the team as we try to make the most of the opportunities the Father gives us. We are truly broken hearted for this city.

The Past 2 days

The trip is winding down, but the ministry is not. Over the past few days we have had several opportunities to meet with people that have questions about our faith. They are hungry for the gospel and want us to answer all their questions, so we keep going back to answer them. Today, we will go to monk chat and follow up with some monks that we have shared with.

As we have been to many places and seen many people, one thing is evident: this city needs a Savior. Everywhere we look are images and idols that are being worshipped and bowed down to. As we see this, we are reminded of Isaiah 46:6-9 that He is God and there is no other. These verses have reminded our team that He alone is worthy of our worship, nothing else.

We have seen the Father’s faithfulness to our team in so many ways the past few days. Thank you for your prayers and the team asks that you keep praying for our conversations over the next few days. Also, pray for health as some people from other groups are getting sick, but thankful that God has protected our team. Keep the prayers coming, the past 2 days have been awesome.

Busy 3 days, but God is Working!!!!

Wow, it’s been a busy 3 days, but God is working here in the city. But here is a rundown of what has been going on with our team.

On Friday morning some went to the University to watch a softball game of some of the students we met earlier in the week. In the afternoon, Eric and Erin had an appointment but the appointment did not show up. However, we walked around looking and found a monk and talked to Him. As the gospel was presented, he had many questions and going back today to talk with him. Please pray for “D” today as we talk to him. After this our group headed to a Christian orphanage and played with the kids. The team really enjoyed this opportunity as the kids were so happy and appreciative for the fellowship. By this time each year, many teams have usually been to the orphanage, but due to the economy, only a few teams have come this year. So we were able to love on the kids and workers with the love of God.

On Saturday we had a free day and rode elephants. This was very exciting because the trail goes through the villages of a people who are 70% believers because of faithful servants who came and shared Jesus with them. By far, an incredible experience!!

On Sunday we worshipped together with other believers and then had the afternoon free. Sunday’s are neat here because they have the Sunday Market where the locals sell some of their handmade and traditional Thai gifts. We enjoyed bargaining and seeing the Thai culture in this way. The day was ended by skyping our church live for both morning services. We enjoyed getting to talk to our church family and look forward to being back with them soon.

As we begin this week, we ask for your prayers as many people are asking questions about our faith. We will begin with several scheduled meeting with these individuals to answer any questions they have. All in all it was a busy three days, but God is working!!!!

God of this City!!!

The song “God of this City” was written in Thailand several years ago. As we walked around the city yesterday, our hearts were really broken for the lostness here. The team was able to engage many Thai people in conversations, where the gospel was shared on many occasions. They are clearly hungry for good news and want to know more.

The highlight of the day for our team was Monk Chat. This is where anyone can talk to a monk and they will talk to you (this helps them learn English). As we learned more about their lifestyle and beliefs, God showed up in a mighty way. Several monks that we shared with last year showed up and they had many questions about the gospel. These questions clearly indicated that the Holy Spirit was working in their lives. A copy of God’s Word was handed to several monks and we asked them to read it so we can discuss it when we come back. We are asking for everyone to pray that these monks and that as they read God’s Word that the Holy Spirit would work in their lives. We are thankful for this opportunity and praying for God to do Great things in this city. Truly, He is God of this City.

After class today, we went to different places around the city. Some went to temples and others went to Chiang Mai University. Each person had the opportunity to share the good news with many of the Thai people. As the good news was shared, many thought about what they heard and want us to come back to share more with them. Please pray for these visits and conversations in the days ahead as the Thai people are hungry for the truth of the gospel.

As one group was walking back to the hotel, a local Thai lady approached the group and began talking with them. After a while of talking and sharing, she decided to follow the Lord!!! Thanks for your prayers and please pray for us today as we will be talking with monks and university students. Our Father is working IN THE CITY here!!!!!

Great Day

Our Monday began with the smell of incense burning as a part of the morning ritual. This was eye opening as we saw the necessity of the good news to be proclaimed here. After class was finished, we divided into small groups and went to different temples to pray and meditate on Scripture. After the exercise a monk approached someone from our larger group and began to ask questions. A divine moment occurred as this monk was lead to our Father. Then he said he had a friend who needed to hear the news of the Father. A few minutes later, here comes two of his friends and the good news was shared with them. They heard and seeds planted, so please pray as there will be some follow up in the days ahead. Today we ask that you pray for us as our team goes into the city and share the good news. All in all, our Father is faithful and praising Him for what He has done and will do. It’s been a Great Day!!!!

Our week begins!

Our day began today with a time of worship and devotion. Once we finished that time, each day we will be in class learning Buddhism. This time prepares us for the culture and beliefs of the Thai people. Today we will be talking to monks and praying that God will give us wisdom as we share. Our team is rested and doing well and appreciate your prayers. Please pray specifically for health of our team. There have been some sick from the other groups, but praising the Father we are well. Thanks for the prayers.
